Middle Lands

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS MIDDLE LANDS, RIGHT?!

Well...

MIDDLE LANDS will take place May 5-7 in Todd Mission, Texas
Where is that you say...WHO KNOWS!!!!
All I know is that it's in Texas..... So whoopiiiiii!!

So TODD MISSION, TEXAS is that little red dot. There you will find the Texas Renaissance Festival Fair Grounds, which is where you will find festivals from late September through mid November. They have festivals, such as, Oktoberfest, Pirate Adventure, Barbarian Invasion, Heroes and Villains and for the FIRST TIME EVER... Middle Lands!

Luckily for Texans, the festival won't be that far from some of the biggest cities in Texas, such as Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston. Needless to say, this Renaissance city will be jammed packed!

And for 4 days...

You will camp...

You will be surrounded by magical fantasy creatures....

There will be 5 stages with too many DJs to count...

Last but not least....you will be impacted by the creativity of the environment and its characters...

Needless to say.... you will have a blast will all the commodities the festival has to offer. I have yet to get my ticket, but thankfully have friends that encourage me to step out of mommy mode and enjoy the ride.

Because...In the End...You'll always have the memories...

And you never know... You could just find yourself a Unicorn....

UME 2017

OK...so Spring Break just happened... and although I didn't get to go to every single event lined up... here are the highlights of what happened that LONG weekend...which started on Wednesday. Now all this took place at South Padre Island or South Party Island as us locals call it and the best part is that UME (Ultimate Music Experience) changed up the venue.  Since 2011, UME has been held at Schlitterbahn, but this year the largest bar on the beach, Clayton's Outdoors, took the "Experience" to another level.

SO... as you can see...the LINE UP was SICK!!!!

  • First you have Marshmello who is coming up the ranks QUICK and headlined Thursday. Marshmello got started on SoundCloud.com and after he uploaded his song "WaVeZ" he got the attention of Skrillex.

  • Tiesto is ALWAYS a fan favorite. He is by far the BEST DJ in the world as he is an established dj who came up the ranks in 1999 - aka...the year i started listening to Trance (Dance Music). Now...if I'm 35...what does that make him !? which goes to show that you can live your dreams at ANY AGE!!!

  • And closing off the festival is Zedd. Zedd is for sure one of the best as well. Mostly commercialized music now, his collaboration with Foxes on the song "Clarity" got  him his 1st Grammy for Best Dance Recording. Since then he has collaborated with artists, such as, Arianna Grande, Selena Gomez, and One Republic.

Needless to say, Wednesday was epic as well.  Borgore started off the kick off party to the Best Weekend Ever...which I was not part of...blah! But i had plenty of friends that went and had a BOMB of a time!

SO...this is just a little recap of what YOU missed out on...not me...YOU! 😒

FYI...all photos are courtesy photos... except for these...

I had the best time!!! It was a Wednesday, but at least I tasted Spring Break for the day. We were at Clayton's and hearing the a Borgeous!!! LOVE HIM. Anyways, went with my bff Rachel and her Hubs and had a mega blast.

And that's her hubs...Paul is wearing the UME cap... Paul is cool...Paul organizes shows...Paul is super awesome...
  👉BE LIKE PAUL!

AERIAL VIEW OF THE DAY I WENT TO SPRING BREAK...FYI THIS IS NOT MY PIC..COURTESY OF CLAYTON'S.

Road Trip to TomorrowWorld

Now let me give you a little 411 on TomorrowWorld.

  • TomorrowLand is actually the festival that gave birth to TomorrowWorld in the US. TL is actually overseas in Belgium. Because they wanted to bring the festivities to the US, TW was born.
  • The festival, started in 2013, resides in the town of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, 25 miles southwest of Atlanta. In its inaugural year, TomorrowWorld received a nomination for Best Music Event at the International Dance Music Awards.
  • TomorrowWorld happened on September 2014, and brought a crowd of 160,000 attendants throughout the 3 day festival.
  • The "Volcano" main stage spanned 400 feet wide and was 100 feet tall!
  • It took 80 shipping containers to transport the massive stage over 6,000 miles across the Atlantic.
  • There were seven other stages sprinkled throughout 500 acres, which was inside an 8,000 acre farm!
  • More than 75 different nationalities were represented during the festival.
  • Over 50,000 people attended each day!
  • At least 35,000 people camped onsite in an area called Dreamville.
  • Dreamville was equipped with vendors of all sorts, from clothes to food and anything in between.
  • Dreamville even had its own daily newspaper!
  • Your bracelet was your currency. There was no paper money being accepted anywhere inside the festival.
  • Economically speaking, TomorrowWorld impacted the Atlanta economy by more than 85 million dollars! That figure is the same amount the NCAA Final Four Championship games brought to the city in 2013!
  • Over 300 DJs spun a total of 38 hours of continuous music. This does not include "The Gathering" stage, which was strictly for Dreamville campers.
AND ONE MORE THING --> THERE WAS NO RECEPTION OF ANY KIND!

:::::SO HERE WE GO:::::

We all met up at the gas station. Everyone except for me drove. I had to stay back, but luckily for me, I flew to TW.  I missed the road trip, but...they all wished they would have flown too lol.

AND.... BREAK!

My friends ... see you on the other side of NORMAL.

Let's Take a Trip

And now we are here...today...17 years later.  Now...it's not about the rave. It's about an event.  I'm 35 now, so events with teeny-boppers isn't my thing.  FESTIVALS are.  And now...here we go. My first festival ever.

Welcome to Freedom

The Before

So...this is how we all dressed 17 years ago...sorta.  I mean the UFOs aka pants, the Kandi aka the beads, the visors including the chupon aka the pacifier...were a must! Although most of the time we wore tanks. Lollipops, Vick sticks, gobs of water and lights were by far the best things to have on you inside your Sponge Bob Square Pants bag-pack.

So you're probably wondering...which one is she?  LOL Neither! Let me tell you...Sad story.  So all my pictures were on my hard drive...and guess what...it got stolen. I know right! Cry me a river!!!! I'm one of a small amount of people who literally lived to take pictures, and got her pictures stolen. Tragic! I know!  Totally feels like I lost my memories, especially since I have the worst memory ever now.

Thankfully, I have great friends who sent me their pictures - specifically since I asked cause I had to share.  =)  Gotta love my EDM Fam! Something I would like you to take away from this is...is this...in this world, strangers become your family. I this world, everyone accepts one another for who they are and for who they will become.  I thank my lucky stars I met the people I did when I did. We were a unit. A huge one at that. We all cared for one another and made each other stronger. I'm happy to say that even after so many years, most of us all still friends in some way or another. But don't get me wrong, some were like the wind. They would pass by and leave, and that was ok, because you still had your #EDMFam.

And this is how it was.  There were no festivals...YET...at least none that we knew of, but that was ok.  Here in the Rio Grande Valley, the underground movement was just happening.  2001 was my year.  That's when it all began for me.  I was no longer afraid. I was no longer trapped in a life that was only going one direction.  Now, it was all fun and games.  We partied like there was no tomorrow.  We had no worries.  We only had each other.  We loved to go to raves. We lived to rave; to go dance, give light shows, show some love and just enjoy being young and free.  That was the life. Having absolutely  NO WORRIES in the world. This is where I finally found myself and finally became who I was born to be.
